The Jack Jay music project started in 2008 on an elementary school playground. A 4th grade Jay memorized their favorite songs and sang them every recess non-stop to a small crowd of whoever would listen. That period is still considered by critics as “the golden age” of Jack Jay. At 15, Jack Jay began writing their own songs with subject matter that spanned cannibalism, bank robbing, and the severed head of Walt Disney being fitted on a robot body to complete his mission of ruling the world. 

 

After 5 years of experimenting playfully with songwriting, they formed Bellingham band Bird Senses Danger alongside long time music collaborator and pal Calla Avens as an outlet for their shared thirst for expression and growing catalog of bangers. The band is releasing its first and final album in March, 2023!

 

One quarter before the pandemic hit, Jay dropped out of college to give music the best shot they could. They spent 3 years teaching themself music production with the help and heavy inspiration of Calla and some new pals with exotic legal names such as Barnes Blvd, Harbor Day, Douglas-, and Lily Potter.

 

Jack Jay pours their soul into these songs until they feels empty and sick in the hopes that you get the thrills from their music that they get from the process of creating them.
